LONE STAR CHAMPIONSHIPS 2000
US LONESTAR
NATIONALS 2001
The
Lone Star Championships (LSC) and the U.S. “Lone Star” Nationals (LSN) were
fully sanctioned USHGA Class A (NTSS) and FAI/CIVL Category 2 (WPRS)
meets. The LSC was held August 13-19, 2000 and the LSN was held August
11-18, 2001. These were aero tow meets, with 38 competitors participating
in the LSC and 81 participating in the LSN. Both meets were successful with
7 straight days of flying and both were organized by Austin Air Sports. Check
out the Standings for the the LSN. The organizers used the older GPS
verification and Race scoring programs for the LSC and the new GPS software
that allowed cylindrical start gates and turnpoints, and the latest version
of Race, for the LSN.

Austin Air Sports operates their aero tow flight park in central Texas, out of the Hearne Municipal Airport.. The area offers “world-class flatland flying”, which was experienced during the LSC and LSN. The Hearne Municipal airport has a 2,000’ grass runway, a 7,200’ paved runway (parallel to each other). Texas conditions allowed for seven straight days of flying for both events.
